Fixes to “Spring Framework Tutorial: Practical, Rapid, Intuitive” after Spring Boot 2.0.0.RELEASE

Hello Spring Framework Tutorial: Practical, Rapid, Intuitive students,

Spring Boot 2.0.0.RELEASE has been released. Our course was developed using Spring Boot 2.0.0.M2, and now the demo project needs to minor fixes:

1) Spring Security now secures all paths by default, including /css/**, /js/** and /images/**. Consequently, for our css and js files to be loaded without logging in, we need to add those to SecurityConfig.java. Visit here for the details.

2) You may see a strange “org.postgresql.jdbc.PgConnection.createClob() is not yet implemented” error on startup. To fix that, add the following line to application.properties:

spring.jpa.properties.hibernate.jdbc.lob.non_contextual_creation=true

Visit here for more details.

Happy coding!

Sanjay
